For your safety Cambridge City Council has mandated that private hire vehicles have CCTV systems installed. In this vehicle there are a number of cameras and two audio buttons. By default, the system should not be recording audio data. If you wish, you can simply press the switch affixed to the roof and video and audio will synchronise.
Who can see this footage?
The only time the footage will be reviewed is in the case of an incident, and even then, only a few authorised personal are allowed to access the footage. In addition, the unit can only be accessed under instruction from the vehicle system operator, the police or with a court order.
What to do in case of an incident?
In case of an incident please contact the relevant department as soon as possible. The data is not stored forever and the sooner we can recover it the better.
